General Question

Just wanted to know how many people used fuel injector cleaner after an oil change? I personally use the chevron with techron and now that they sell it at costco im happy about that. Any thoughts? I feel like it just adds that extra clean to my engine.

I've seen absolutely no improvement in performance or fuel economy using tune ups in a can. Our fuel injection system cleaner works but also cleans the valves and plenum.

Is it the same thing as running 100 octane gas in your tank after an oil change?

I would agree with the others in saying that I don't believe in injector cleaners. I've tried the Chevron kind as well, and have experienced nothing more than what was there before using it. My dad swears by it, but he also tried to convince me that water boils at 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Wouldn't that cause all sorts of drivability issues?

Running 100 octane, while it should not cause any problems, is just throwing away money. It is of absolutely no benefit unless the DME is tuned to take advantage of what 100 octane has to offer.

I felt pretty awesome and pretty cool putting 100 octane into my car when it was blown. Even if it did nothing. I was somewhat disappointed too when I found out it really didn't do much for us unless we ran it for a while or we had a tune for it.

Then other modded out cars would be at that station and the guy would ask me if my car was blown, etc. Felt straight out of a scene from Fast and the Furious. This was a few years ago...haha.
