Brakes
Hello everyone, just have a question on my e39 530i, the brake light came on my dashboard and stays on while i'm driving, and after i turned off the engine it is also showing "check brake lining", is it time for a brake service?

Yes. Can you see how much pad you have left through the wheels. The outside (visible) pad will be a little thicker than the inside pads?

It looks like the calipers are close to the rotors, i used to be able to see the pads from the outside but i don't see it, maybe i need to take my wheels of to check?

You should be able to see the remaining pads. Use a flashlight or move the car a couple of inches to get a better look.

Dont let this happen to your e39 like I did...If the lights on(which mine never came on) you probably need a brake job.
