Went and looked at the car. 1980 euro 635csi, sitting since 1994. Family has a lot of emotional attachment and wants too much for the car.

It's been driven since '94 right? My car was sitting without being moved for a year and I know what that did to the car...I can't imagine what 16 years would do.

Nope. Hasn't been started since 1994. It's a big project that they want $2k for.

So, you were interested! 16 years non-running?! Did they think it would end up as a "barn find Bugatti" worth BIG $$$$$? Sounds like a basket case. Tell them the back registration will alone be $2000 and you'll take it for free. Tell them you'll come back and let them see the car after you're done. There is no way, they'll get $2k, maybe $200.

My brother had emailed about it before you posted it here. The car has been properly non-opped since 1994. I'd say the car is worth under $1k as is. It has a lot of nice parts and good records. It's been repainted poorly, but is decently straight. As I said, the family has a much inflated idea of it's value. They said there were more interested parties, but I don't think anyone is going to want to buy a POS for $2k. Especially since it's the earlier e12-based chassis with 175k and a salvage title.
